Developer buys Forest Lane campus in North Dallas

Developers have completed their purchase of a vacant North Dallas office campus.

Centurion American Development Group bought the 20-acre former CompuCom Systems headquarters on Forest Lane west of U.S. Highway 75. The strategically located property will be redeveloped to add housing and medical office space.

The old business campus is surrounded on three sides by homes and has been empty for more than five years.

It’s just west of the sprawling Medical City hospital campus.

Centurion American plans to convert the old office building into medical space – something allowed with current zoning.

The developer had planned to use the empty eight-story tower for residential condominiums. But those plans were changed after pushback from homeowners in the area.

The area surrounding the tower will be used for a senior housing community and several a small neighborhood of new single-family homes.

The Forest Lane office building was the longtime headquarters of Electronic Data Systems.

Many of the houses that surround the former EDS campus were built on land that was once part of the data processing firm’s Dallas headquarters, which was built on the site of an old golf course.
