CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Browns lost cornerback Greedy Williams early in Sunday’s preseason game against the Giants to a groin injury. Williams started the game at cornerback opposite of rookie Greg Newsome II, but didn’t last long before exiting.
Williams left the game in the first quarter and was announced as questionable to return with a groin injury.
A.J. Green replaced Williams as the other outside cornerback opposite Newsome.
Williams, in his third season, is coming back from a nerve injury that cost him all of 2020. He has received the majority of first-team reps, especially with Denzel Ward missing time due to soreness.
Troy Hill played nickel into the second quarter on Sunday. Newsome worked inside when the Browns went to nickel after Hill’s day was done and Green and Brian Allen played outside. Hill was involved in post-practice fight on Friday with Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard.
