Dallas College’s Ben Magill on Sustainable Cities and Communities » Dallas Innovates

Benjamin Magill, CEcD
Associate Vice Chancellor, Economic Opportunity
Dallas College
.…speaking at the RCE North Texas annual summit last week.

Here's "who said what" in Dallas Innovates Every Day.

Magill spoke last week at the annual summit of the Regional Center of Expertise of North Texasa network of multidisciplinary stakeholders, including higher education institutions, businesses, non-governmental organizations, community associations, and local, regional, state and federal government agencies.

His panel addressed Sustainable Development Goal #11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.

“I was truly in awe of my fellow panelists and the work they presented,” Magill wrote on LinkedIn.

His big takeaways, besides his Last Word above about sustainability careers?

“The forthcoming investment in broadband infrastructure is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” he wrote, referring to the work of NTIA, the U.S. Department of Commerce agency responsible for advising the President on telecommunications and information policy.

He also noted that “some incredible work” on sustainability is being done right here in North Texas, including a project by the city of Farmer’s Branch to turn “a landfill into a solar farm.”
