Here’s Who Is Coming to Dallas This Week: December 23-25

Tuba Christmas

December 23, noon | Thanks-Giving Square

Thanks to the Christmas holidays, this weekend is a little light on live music. But one tradition is worth bundling up and heading out for: Tuba Christmas. For the uninitiated: Tuba players from all over Dallas converge on Thanks-Giving Square to play holiday tunes as spectators watch and sing along. The sound of dozens (sometimes more) tubas playing Christmas music after the briefest of rehearsals might sound like a recipe for cacophony, but every year, it somehow just works. Get details here.

Tanner Usrey

December 23, 10 p.m. | Billy Bob’s Texas, Fort Worth

Bluegrass artist Tanner Usrey hails from Prosper, and makes a homecoming of sorts this weekend at Billy Bob’s Texas. If he sounds familiar, it’s because you may have caught his song “The Light” in an episode of the hit TV show Yellowstone back in season 4. Check out his latest song, “Pick Up Your Phone,” and then take a break from the gift wrapping and drive to Cowtown. Get tickets here.

Also check out:

Jingle Bones, December 23, 5 p.m., Reveler’s Hall. Details here.

Frank Hasty and Da’Merge, December 23, 9 p.m., The Balcony Club. Get tickets.

Cory Cross, December 25, 10 p.m., Twilite Lounge. Details here.
