A serenade by a string quartet. A ride in a Lamborghini. Or perhaps a quick spin in a helicopter.
Americans plan to spend an average of $130.75 this Valentine’s Day, with candy the bestseller, according to the National Retail Federation.
But if a box of chocolates and flowers won’t cut it, we pulled together four of the most outrageously lavish Valentine’s dates around Dallas.
Marry Me? at The Joule
Cost: This package at starts at $13,000 and is available throughout February.
Considering a proposal? The Joule in Dallas will handle all the pesky details.
Package includes floral arrangements, balloons, a string quartet, a photographer and a “marry me?” marquee letter display. Dinner and drinks for up to 20 guests will follow the proposal. The couple will stay the night at one of the hotel’s four penthouses with a private terrace and floor-to-ceiling glass windows with views of the Dallas skyline. The morning after will include breakfast in bed and a 110-minute couples spa experience at Spa at The Joule.
“All you need to do is get them there, pop the big question, and we’ll take care of the rest,” hotel spokeswoman Liza Costandino said.
Hop in a helicopter
Cost: $554 for a 25-minute ride over Fort Worth.
A Valentine’s ride with Epic Helicopters will soar above downtown Fort Worth, the Stockyards, TCU, Fort Worth Zoo, the Cultural District and Fort Worth Botanic Garden. Guests can even bring their own music and have it piped through headsets. Add-ons include longer flight time, stops for dinner, and wine glasses. The 16-year-old company has previously partnered with Uber to offer sky-high rides to concerts and sporting events.
Drive a Lamborghini
Cost: $1,749 to drive a Lamborghini Huracán Spyder for the day.
The Italian automotive manufacturer describes this car as a sports car with the “feel and technology of a genuine race car.” A one-day rental from Exotic Rentals comes with 100 miles, but customers can purchase more. And if a Lamborghini isn’t your speed, the Dallas company also rents Rolls Royce, BMW, Mercedes and Corvette vehicles.
Ride in the sky
Cost: $1,195 for a one-hour hot air balloon flight for two.
Drift through the sky in a hot air balloon with McKinney-based Rohr Balloons. Flights depart at sunrise and sunset and include champagne and hors d’oeuvres, as well as ground photos. Private wedding flights are available for $2,195 to $3,995, depending on the day of the week. Additional passengers are $200 apiece.
