Drinking two cups of tea a day, or a glass of red wine, can keep your memory sharper as you age, a study suggests.
US researchers found that people who ate or drank more foods rich in antioxidant flavonols, including tea, red wine, tomatoes and leafy green vegetables, had slower rates of memory decline. “It’s exciting that our study shows making specific diet choices may lead to a slower rate of cognitive decline,” said Thomas Holland of Rush University medical centre in Chicago, the study’s author.
“Something as simple as eating more fruits and vegetables and drinking more tea is an easy way for people to take an active role in maintaining their brain health.”
