XFL Week 1 live updates: Scores, highlights as DC Defenders host Seattle Sea Dragons; St. Louis wins thriller

The XFL is back after temporarily closing its doors in 2020, and following a wild season-opener and an equally thrilling end to Sunday’s early game, one more contest is on tap to wrap up Week 1.

In the Sunday nightcap, the Seattle Sea Dragons and quarterback Ben DiNucci take on the D.C. Defenders, who entered the season ranked No. 1 in our Power Rankings. The St. Louis BattleHawks stunned the San Antonio Brahmas on Sunday afternoon, overcoming a 12-point deficit with three minutes to go for an 18-15 victory.

In Saturday’s opener, the Arlington Renegades’ T.J. Barnes sacked Vegas Vipers quarterback Luis Perez on a two-point conversion attempt that would’ve tied it, capping off the Renegades’ frantic second-half comeback in their 22-20 victory. In the late game, Wade Phillips’ Houston Roughnecks roughed up the Orlando Guardians, 33-12. The Roughnecks have yet to lose in the XFL after having the only perfect 5-0 record in 2020 before the league was shut down.
